Conference series Women into Leadership expands to Newcastle with an event scheduled on 30 November
Women's empowerment and gender equality have been a focus of discussion and advocacy in recent years, and the conference series Women into Leadership has played a pivotal role in driving change and inspiring women to reach their full potential. Head of D&I Portfolio and event organiser, Kiren Kaur, said the conference has made a considerable impact on current and future leaders who have gathered online, as well as in London, Manchester, Birmingham, and Cardiff, where regional events have taken place over the past couple of years. "The addition of Newcastle marks a significant step towards providing women in the region with access to inspiring role models, skill development opportunities, and valuable networking connections," she noted.
Women into Leadership Newcastle will take place on 30 November. Through insightful panel discussions, keynote speeches, and interactive workshops, the conference will provide a nurturing environment for women to enhance their leadership abilities and build confidence. Kaur explained: "The conference offers a unique opportunity for attendees to hear inspiring success stories from accomplished female leaders in the civil service, providing motivation and encouragement to strive for their goals," she added.
Skills development
One of the key aspects of the conference Women into Leadership is its focus on skill development. The conference has empowered countless female civil servants by providing them with the necessary tools, knowledge, and confidence to excel in leadership roles. Through keynote speeches, panel discussions, and interactive workshops, attendees have gained practical skills, learned from successful role models, and built a strong network of like-minded individuals.
Female leaders including Antonia Romeo, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice; Susan Acland-Hood, Permanent Secretary, Department for Education; Leslie Evans, Permanent Secretary, Scottish Government; former senior civil servant Bernadette Thompson; Sherin Aminossehe, Director of Infrastructure, Ministry of Defence; Karina Singh, director of transformation, HM Land Registry; and Sarah Munby, Permanent Secretary, Department for Science, Innovation and Technology have spoken at the conference, sharing their life experiences with current and aspiring female leaders in the civil service. They have provided them with valuable insights into overcoming barriers and breaking through the glass ceiling.
On the workshop front, presentations are led by expert coaches, including Cath Baxter, professional voice and public speaking consultant, former senior civil servant and selection psychologist Richard Hillsdon, and peak performance and communications coach Elaine Powell, to name a few.
